25 teams to compete at the 2nd Annual RCUAC Challenge Shield Water polo tournament

The 2nd Annual RCUAC Challenge Shield will host 25 Water polo teams from 12 leading schools in Colombo on the 20th of May 2023 at the Royal College Pool. This is Sri Lanka’s only tournament dedicated to promoting U13, U15 and U17 Water polo teams in competition. The Initiative by the Royal College Union Aquatic Club (RCUAC) is organized under the theme, “ For the Love of the Game”.

 

The school’s and clubs participating are; Bishops College, Visaka Vidyalaya, Ladies College, Colombo International School, Gateway College, Royal College, S. Thomas’ College, Nalanda College, St. John’s Nugegoda, Thurstan College, D.S Senanayake College and Starfish.

 

The tournament is sanctioned by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union and is officiated by its elite panel of referees and judges to make sure the game is played fairly and officiated to the highest standards.

The long-term vision of having these events is to promote Water polo to as many schools as possible and build a strong pool of athletes to represent Sri Lanka. It is a sport requiring dedication to top levels of fitness, careful planning and quick thinking. All of which are vital ingredients in make up the complete student-athlete.

 

The RCUAC Challenge Shield and the Royal College Pool is dedicated to promoting Water polo across the country. With healthy competitions in the pool and a carnival outside, it promises to be a day to remember for families, sports enthusiasts and young athletes looking to take up this magnificent sport of Water polo!
