Isipathana edges out Wesley 10-0

Young second row forward Suriya Dodangoda scored a superb try which enabled Isipathana College to edge out favourites Wesley College by 10 points (1 try, 1 conversion, 1 penalty) to Nil, in their Dialog ‘A’ Division inter-schools League rugby match played at Sugathadasa Stadium today. At half time the scores were deadlock at nil all.

Game got underway to a rousing start, where both Wesley and Isipathana were involved in a hectic battle for supremacy.

Both the teams had their scoring opportunities, but failed to open their account. Finally they went in to halftime where the scores were nil all.

After the turn around Isipathana College staged a spirited performance in the latter stages of the second half scoring a penalty through winger Rinesh Silva.

It was too late for the Wesley team to turn tables to make it a victory as Isipathana second row forward Suriya Dodangoda barged over to score a splendid try. Winger cum place kicker Rinesh Silva slotted in the conversion for them to become the worthy winners by 10 points to Nil over their fame counterparts in the end.

Referee – Ravin Alexander had a good game with the whistle.
