Sri Lanka hosted the final leg of the 2025 Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Series, teams competing for the title of Asia’s champions and a spot on the World Rugby HSBC SVNS Division 3 pathway. After a lapse of several years, the Asian Sevens series returned to Sri Lanka, where the second and final leg of the men’s and women’s tournaments was worked off on the 18th and 19th of October at Race Course, Colombo. Japan, Hong Kong, and China performed well on the opening day (Day 01) of the tournament in both the men’s and women’s categories. The Indian women’s team and the Thai women’s team also had an impressive outing.
The Sri Lanka men’s team put up a dominant show on Day 1, cruising into the cup semi-finals. However, it was a tough day for the Sri Lankan women’s team, who lost all three matches against strong opponents from Hong Kong, China, Thailand, and Singapore.
