Sri Lanka hosted the final leg of the 2025 Asia Rugby Emirates Sevens Series, teams competing for the title of Asia’s champions and a spot on the World Rugby HSBC SVNS Division 3 pathway. The second and final leg of the men’s and women’s tournaments was worked off on the 18th and 19th of October at the Race Course, Colombo. Hong Kong China beat Japan in the Final, in sudden death, by 12-7 to be unbeaten Champions of the 2nd Leg. The Sri Lankan men impressed and claimed third in Colombo, after beating China in the 3rd place playoff and securing third place in the overall standings, to the delight of the home crowd at the Racecourse Ground. Japan Sakura 7s women, who beat China’s women’s team in the final, secured the overall championship. Both the Japan Sakura 7s women and the Hong Kong China men were undefeated throughout the two legs and are the ARESS 2025 champions. The result means that the HKCR men will represent Asia at the HSBC World Rugby Division SVNS 3.
